Here is part two of the short movie “Hardware Wars” (1977), which was the forerunner of today’s fan films. The ending features the classic tagline: “You’ll laugh, you’ll cry…you’ll kiss three bucks goodbye.”

Here is part one of the classic short movie “Hardware Wars” (1977), which was the forerunner of today’s fan films. This used to get played on HBO all the time back in the day as filler between films and other programs. Enjoy…and look out for part two.

Here is another classic Mike Oldfield video from the MTV Music archive. This one is “Magic Touch,” which features vocalist Max Bacon (GTR, Tony Banks)…ooh, speaking of which, I should try to find GTR’s “When the Heart Rules the Mind” video…another classic!

I just discovered MTV Music’s library of more than 16,000 music videos, including vintage clips from the early days of MTV like this one…it’s “Shine” by Mike Oldfield featuring Yes’ Jon Anderson on lead vocals. I use to see this on the long-departed “New Visions” show on VH-1 on Sunday nights when I was into electronic/new age/fusion.

Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Kalas calls the final out of the 2008 World Series, as colleague Chris “Wheels” Wheeler goes nuts.

For the first time since 1980 and for only the second time in franchise history, the Philadelphia Phillies are the world champions of baseball after beating the Tampa Bay Rays, 4-3, at Citizens Bank Park on October 29, 2008. The Phils won the best-of-seven series in five games.
The victory also gives Philadelphia its first major professional sports title since 1983, when the Sixers won the NBA championship.
Savor this, Philly fans…you deserve this.
And congratulations to Charlie Manuel and the 2008 Fightin’ Phils! Thank you very much for this.

BBC News | David Tennant quits “Doctor Who”
This was inevitable, but arguably the best “Doctor” of them all will be stepping down after a series of specials in 2009.
About a year from now, “Who” fans will be anticipating the most dramatic regeneration scene since Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor changed into Peter Davison’s Fifth Doctor in 1981.
This time, it will be Doctor No. 10’s turn to transform into Doctor No. 11.
Hopefully, David Tennant will go on to be the worldwide star he deserves to be.
