Well, today is THE day! “Iron Man” opens with advanced screenings starting tonight (May 1) at 8 p.m. Of course, I have tickets for the 8 p.m. show at a nearby theater.
Between my waiting for this movie since childhood and the positive reviews, I am REALLY psyched to see this film.
And what makes it even better?
Since there are spoilers involved, I’ll put the rest after the jump…
OK…so a rumor had gone around months ago that Samuel L. Jackson filmed a cameo to appear in “Iron Man” as Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. (another Marvel Universe character). However, when the press screenings were held, it appeared the cameo wound up on the cutting room floor because Jackson/Nick Fury was nowhere to be found. Then, director Jon Favreau said he decided to leave the scene out of the film.
But now that the film has opened internationally, it is becoming apparent that the public theatrical version does indeed include the Jackson/Nick Fury cameo…AFTER THE END CREDITS! Want proof? Well, as is often the case in these matters, check out YouTube!
If you watched the video, then you know that Nick Fury wants to discuss with Tony Stark/Iron Man “the Avenger(s) Initiative.” If I see that scene tonight in the theater, I think I will have a fanboy-gasm on the spot.
