Christian Beach…Live @ The Brickwall Tavern, 6/21/2008

New Jersey singer-songwriter Christian Beach will be doing a solo, acoustic show as part of this year’s Wave Gathering Festival in Asbury Park, NJ. He will be taking the stage at The Brickwall Tavern Annex (522 Cookman Ave.) at 10:15 p.m. (and I may be joining him on accordion for a couple of songs).

Spread the word with the web graphic below, or download it as a PDF for printing out as a flyer to post where you can.

Another show coming up

Christian BeachMy friend Christian Beach has once again invited me to play some organ and — believe it or not — accordion for a show he is doing Feb. 2, 2008, at Paul’s Tavern in Belmar, NJ.

Also, just wanted to let you know that Christian’s cover of David Bowie’s “Five Years,” on which I play organ, appears on “Hero: The Main Man Records Tribute to David Bowie.” The 2-CD set, which was released on Christmas Day, features many Jersey artists’ takes on Bowie classics and is available now from the Main Man web site.

Movie Trailer: “Speed Racer”

“Speed Racer” trailer

As you can see, above is the trailer for the Wachowski brothers-directed “Speed Racer” movie scheduled for release on May 9, 2008.

Now, I loved “Speed Racer” as a kid and I’m not sure what to think of this quasi-live action film version. However, despite what most people think of the final two installments of “The Matrix” trilogy, Andy and Larry Wachowski make films that are visually stunning. And, in that sense, it looks like the Wachowski brothers have succeeded once again.

This movie “looks” incredible…whether or not the film is any good remains to be seen, in my opinion. But the trailer is fun, so check it out.

First “Technology & the Arts” podcast is up!

There are a few technical issues we need to work out and some production improvements we need to make, but the first “Technology & the Arts” podcast is up over at the Technology & the Arts blog.

I think it’s pretty good for a first crack at podcasting. It will only get better as John LeMansey and I get the hang of being podcasters/show hosts.

Please take a listen. Yes, it’s a bit long at nearly 34 minutes in length, but I won’t mind if you skip through it and cut it down to 10 (we’re going to try to get future installments down to a more manageable 25 minutes). Just give it a shot.

Thanks!

Technology & the Arts: My new endeavor

OK…the podcast isn’t ready yet, but it will be by next week, so I’m ready to announce on this blog the start of an exciting, new chapter in my life.

My friend John LeMasney and I have launched Technology & the Arts, a blog and podcast dedicated to exploring the connections between…well…technology and art.

The podcast is going to be a fun, informative 20-30 minute program. The first one should be ready by the middle of next week.

Please help spread the word. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Expect big news from me shortly

Well, an idea for a podcast I have had in my head for quite some time has taken a huge step forward in coming to fruition. John LeMasney, my friend and former colleague at Rider who is also a very talented artist and instructional technologist, and I have arranged to collaborate on this podcast, which I think is going to be very engaging and informative for all those who work with technology and art in all its forms.

Once we are ready to launch, I’ll put an official announcement up on the ol’ blog. For now, enjoy what might be the theme song for the new endeavor. It’s a short, instrumental number…sorry about the closing sound cutting out like it does. The final version will have a cleaner fade out, but I didn’t get a chance to fix it yet.

Enjoy…
